My Biography

Samartha Vashishtha was born June 10, 1983 at Nabha (Punjab). He published a first book of poems in English, Anhadnad, in the year 2000. A second titled Shadows Don't Live In Walls was published in 2004 by Writers Workshop, Kolkata.

His poems have appeared in some leading literary journals like Chandrabhaga (Cuttack), The Journal of the Poetry Society (India) (New Delhi), Indian Literature (New Delhi),
The Poetry Chain (Mumbai), and The Journal of Literature and Aesthetics (Kerala).

Besides, he translates to and from the Hindi and the Punjabi and has published translations of his poems in the leading Hindi journals Pahal and Vartaman Sahitya, besides some daily publications.

Samartha has also trained in Classical Vocal Music for many years. He won the Chosen Poet - II award in The Poetry Society (India) - Poetry Chain Annual Poetry Prizes 2003.

An engineer by education, he currently works as a Technical Writer with Adobe Systems.
In the past, he has served as the Editorial Coordinator of LINUX For You, a magazine focused on Linux and open source software.
